Bloods taken in the Practice

Please be aware that regretfully the practice is no longer able to provide blood tests for patients.

This is a decision that we have no control over, and we have been trying to maintain this service for as long as possible.

All blood tests can be done at one of many community blood clinics. Patients will be able to book their appointment using Swiftqueue: www.swiftqueue.co.uk/uhdb.php

Patients can also attend the following locations for urgent, on-the-day appointments, without a booking:

Babington Hospital (DE56 1WH)

Florence Nightingale Community Hospital (DE1 2QY)

Coleman Health Centre (DE24 8NH)

St Oswald’s Hospital (DE6 1DR)

Blood forms will be issued by the clinician that has requested the blood test. Patients will be required to take the blood form to the community clinic.

There are only a small number of exceptions, where a patient will be able to have their blood test done at the practice. The main exception is for those who are very frail and will find it extremely difficult to get a bus, taxi or to drive (or get a lift) to one of the clinics. Blood tests will also be done at the Practice if you are attending for an annual review, such as a diabetes or mental health review.
